We’d like to tell you about some of the wonderful campsites that are within a 50 mile ‘ish’ radius of where your adventure can start from our base in Lytchett Matravers in one of our VW campervans. We’d like to share with you some of the favourite campsites we’ve stayed at and some shares from our customers.

First up Norden Farm in Dorset

A beautiful site nestled in the shadow of Corfe Castle in the Purbecks, a great place to visit in a VW campervan. A working farm where you can get up close to farm animals and tractors. You can walk to Corfe Castle and the village for some souvenirs, or if you’re feeling like burning off some calories, take your bikes and cycle across the Purbecks. We have bike racks for you to hire. If you fancy a more relaxing day, you can take a steam train to Swanage from Norden Station.

New Forest and Redshoot Camping Park

One of our customers took Bert to Redshoot for a long weekend. It’s nestled in the heart of the New Forest away from busy roads. It’s suitable for families, couples and you can even take your dog. It has all the facilities you’d expect including shop and clean washrooms. A bonus to Redshoot is a lovely pub called the Red Shoot Inn, that looks well worth a visit.

Next up is West Fleet Holiday Farm near Weymouth

We camped in Betty Blue and a friend hired Ernie. We have stayed here before, it’s a family favourite. A great campsite with an outdoor swimming pool. It was a little ‘nippy’ for us but the kids enjoyed it. The washrooms are fab with the bonus of heated floors! If you enjoy walking, there is a lovely walk that takes you along the West Dorset Heritage Coast giving fantastic views of Chesil Beach. We’ve never done it ourselves, but Weymouth is only 5 miles away if you fancy a longer trek. Also close by is the Isle of Portland and the famous Portland Bill lighthouse. Why not take some photos at some landmarks in your VW campervan and send them to us.

Branscombe Airfield Campsite in Devon

We only stayed here for one night in Betty Blue, but we would’ve stayed more if we could. This campsite is family run on the edge of Branscombe village There are 2 award winning pubs a short walk away, although it’s a steep uphill on the way back, it can be quite tricky if you’ve sampled the local cider or beer. The campsite is just 4 miles from Seaton, Sidmouth and Beer. A family favorite was The Donkey Sanctuary, where you can get up close to the Donkeys and learn about the wonderful work they do.campsites

Home Farm Campsite near Bridport

This is a small family run site in Puncknowle, a small village with stone and thatched cottages. A rare occasion when Betty Blue, Bert and Ernie camped. It was perfect for us for a football tournament camping trip with our son’s football team. There is a beautiful pub a short walk round the corner with a lovely garden and excellent food. One evening they catered for a football team, siblings and parents at very short notice. The views driving to the campsite through Burton Bradstock really are spectacular.
